Artist’s
Statement: My
works are rooted in a blending of autobiographical and imaginative themes. I draw upon memories and visual images from my
own life in order to invest my works with a sense of personal history. Using bright colors and a variety of media, I interpret
familiar, "everyday" objects in a personal manner. Working on paper allows me to react in a direct, private way,
much like the process of writing in a diary. I spontaneously juxtapose my images and patterns upon the visual space, using
acrylic paint, pencil, crayon and collaged pieces of my own etchings or drawings. I enjoy layering, reworking my images and
reassembling collage pieces to create a richly textured visual surface. Within this surface are the discovery, exploration
and free association of images that comprise my artistic vision.
